U14 Boy's v Poynton Match Report

This week U14s took on a young Poynton team at Timperley Sports Club.

First quarter
Timperley got of to a flying start with a fast break from the face and goal Jim. Straight from the resulting face again a chance converted by Cai but he just stepped in the crease, no score. Timperley win the ball back and Cai gets his goal. Poynton start to build into the game but a quick break sees Noah add to Timperley’s lead. Poynton are battling for every ball and are moving the ball well resulting in a goal from their number 12. Timperley fire straight back with Noah and Jim linking up at pace goal Jim. Poynton apply pressure and create some good shooting chances but resolute defending from Ben L, Alex, Leon and Tom in goal keep them out. Timperley are now in control of possession and are moving it around well a great pass from Owen into Cai goal. End of quarter 5-1.

Second quarter
Timperley again started strong with Mark H, Hamza and Daniel G in midfield. Poynton manage to break but Alex intercepts and he’s off down field but shoots just wide. Timperley increase the pressure but Poynton’s keeper stands firm. Hamza creates a great assist to Mark who fires home. A break from the back sees Noah run full pitch and score. Poynton again win face but Ben L regains possession for Timperley and bolts up the pitch, draws the defender and passes to Cai goal. Cai apples the pressure to Poynton midfield and turns the ball over passes to Sam who finds the back of the goal. Timperley win the face and Mark breaks up field pass to Cai goal. Halftime score 11-1.

Third quarter
Timperley start the quarter as they finished the last at a frantic pace which sees Cai score early on. Timperley keep up the pressure on Poynton who are giving everything and battling for every ball but the older Timperley team are just pipping them to the ball. Great work from Owen steps in and goal. A great move from face sees Jim pass on to Cai and then take the pass back and score. Same again from face but this time its Owen and Cai linking up for the goal. Six quick goals from Cai, Owen and Sam finish of the quarter 21-1.

Forth quarter
Timperley came out strong and with 2 early goals from Ben E and Owen. Poynton fought back and created some great chances but just couldn’t get passed Tom in goal. Final score 23-1

A great start to the season with the boys moving the ball well and giving their all.

A special mention to a young Poynton team who have not had time to train together, but put in a good solid performance and gave 100% which made for a good game.
