U14 Boy's v Heaton Mersey

This week the U14s travelled to Heaton Mersey who were missing their regular Goalie.

1st Quarter
Timperley started well and raced into a 2 goal lead within a couple of minutes. Mersey started to settle and made it harder to break their defence down. Timperley enjoyed a lot of possession and a goal from Cai extended the lead. A great run from Ben Lawton soon after nearly added another goal but just over the bar. A fast break from Cai onto Owen who’s shot was well saved but Cai picked up the loose ball and fired home. Straight away from the restart Noah strides upfield and sets up Cai for his forth. Mersey now started to enjoy more of the possession but couldn’t break down the Timperley defence. Timperley hit back on the counter attack with a goal from Owen. Mersey attack but Ben picks up a loose ground ball and passes to Cai who sets up Daniel goal. Jim wins the face and moves Up the field beats his man and scores. End of quarter 8-0.
2nd Quarter
Jim’s wins face and Timperley setup an attack but some good defensive play from Mersey sees them come out with possession but Daniel hounds the defender and takes the ball back and sets up Cai. 9-0. Mersey are again enjoying more possession but just can’t get past Tom in goal. Mersey a man up but a quick break sees Cai add another goal to his Tally. Mersey attack and a good move from their number 3 sets up number 6 to finally beat Tom. 10-1. Timperley again increase the pressure but some great saves from Mersey keeper stops an increase in score before Noah and Sam score at the end of the quarter 12-1.
3rd Quarter
Timperley again out of the blocks quickly and another goal for Cai. Ben E hits the post before Jim sets up Noah. A good move round the goal is finished off by Jim to increase the lead to 15-1. Cai wins ball in midfield passes to Mark who sprints up the pitch beating the defender and firing home. Timperley come again with Owen picking up a loose ball and flashing the ball past the helpless keeper. A frantic passage of play sees Jack making a great pass to Owen who sets up Sam for Timperley’s 18th.
4th Quarter
Jack starts the quarter strong and sets up Sam 19-1. Mersey enjoy a little possession and but Ben L wins the ball back sprints up the field and passes to Ben E who fires home. Mersey enjoying a lot more possession and moving the ball well. The ball drops to the floor and everyone scrambles to gain possession and it’s Owen who comes out with and scores. Mersey have one last attack and a slick passage of play sees them break through the Timperley defence and score a great goal.

A massive thanks to Mersey for their hospitality and a big well done to a young team who were missing some key players including their keeper. They never gave up and battled too the end in difficult conditions.

A good solid performance from all the boys today and some great goals especially Cai and Owen.
