U14 Boy's v Mellor

This week the U14s travelled to Mellor for our second of four cup playoffs.

Q1
Jim wins the first face and moves it on to Cai back to Jim who finds Owen who then beats 2 defenders and scores. Jim again wins the face but Mellor regain possession but give it straight back to Timperley. Jack pass to Jim onto Owen who finds Cai who beats his man and scores. Mellor win the face and set up in attack but struggle to beat the defence of Ben L, Alex, Toby and Leon. Timperley regain possession from a missed shot. but fail to make any impact upfield and Mellor come again but once again can't beat Timperley's solid defence. Jack breaks upfield onto Leon at halfway and then over to Mark who beats 2 men runs to goal but the pass is missed and Timperley setup. Mellor win the ball back and move it nicely around but great save from Tom. Alex breaks upfield and passes onto Cai ball down but offside Mellor. Timperley set up but can't beat Mellor defence this time but come again. Another save by the Mellor keeper and they break. Timeout. Mellor on the attack moving round goal missed pass but Mellor regain the ball and eventually score. Jim wins face and Ben L breaks upfield but it slows. Jim beats his man and shoots but a great check sees the shot go wide. Timperley come again with Sam but solid defence Mellor sees them regain possession but it comes to nothing and Timperley attack again. Timeout Blue. Too many men on field Timperley. Mellor possession. Mellor attack but good save Tom. Mellor come again. Tom again saves. Fast break Timperley but a great save from Mellor keeps Cai's shot out. End of Quarter 1-2

Q2
Mellor win face and setup in attack. Timeout white. Mellor attack Good play but again Tom keeps Mellor out and Timperley break with Mark but a pass to Ben E goes out as he had the sun in his eyes. Mellor break upfield but a great check form Toby sees Timperley on the attack with Ben L who passes to Owen who feeds Cai and goal. Mellor gain possession and attack but struggle to beat the defence. Timperley man down for a push in the back. A rocket from George beats Tom, Mellor goal. Jim wins face and moves it on to Cai finds Mark who finds Owen but ball down and Mellor come out with ground ball. Timperley regain possession, Timeout Blue. Sam has the ball passes to Jim who cuts in and feeds Owen but good save by the Mellor Keeper. long clearance up the field and Mellor are in but great work from Leon to body the attack man who drops the ball. Mellor again win the roundball and come straight back. A good run from George (Mellor) sees him in and he scores. Jim wins face and finds Cai but just out of play. Mellor have the ball at the back with the keeper who finds a man and Mellor set up. Shot off the bar and Mellor win the ball. Pass comes off blue out for Mellor ball behind goal. Mellor moving it round and George drives but gets crosschecked Timperley man down. Mellor move ball round but Jack wins ball and Ben picks it up and onto Cai who runs straight to goal and scores. Mellor win face and go. Tom Saves and holds the ball long pass which Mellor win. End of quarter 3-4

Q3
Jim wins face and passes to Jack, but a missed pass sees Mellor break. Alex wins ball back and onto Leon who is quickly surrounded and ball down. Mellor possession. Dropped pass out the back Timperley ball. Jack to Tom back to Jack and off he goes. Jack soots from long range easy save for the keeper. Great break from Mellor pole who runs length of the field after getting through challenges from Cai and George and sets up attack man goal Mellor. Mellor win face and break but saved Tom. Mellor come again. Another save Tom but Mellor win back possession good work Leon keeping Mellor at bay. Jack wins ball but again Mellor win ground ball. Tight defence forces Mellor error and Timperley have the ball with Sam on to George who moves upfield and finds Cai back to George and finds its way to Jack who drives but no joy. Ball over to George who is nailed to the floor and Mellor win back possession. Stray pass from Keeper gives Timperley the ball back. Push in back Mellor man up. Mellor set up. Save Tom. Tom beats 2 men and passes ball upfield. Owen feeds Cai who unlike him shoots just wide. Owen picks up loose ball rounds round the pitch beats his man a fires home. Mellor win face. Daniel wins the ball back and Jim picks up loose ball and passes upfield which ends up with Ben E. Ball moves to Cai and George but Mellor regain possession and break. Ball down in front of Timperley goal but Mark comes in wins ground ball and bolts upfield, finds Cai who slots it home. Jim wins face and jack picks up the ball but Mellor win it back. Great pressure from George and Cai sees Cai charge the ball down and pick up subsequent ground ball. Timperley set up. Move it around and Jack drives. Ball ends up with Cai who feeds Jim but good save from the Mellor keeper. Flag down for a slash Mellor break. Big hit from George but can't stop the man keeping possession. Mellor shoot but Tom saves. Mellor ball for slash, Timperley man down. Mellor set up and spin the ball well cut and goal. Mellor win face and break but shot saved comfortably by Tom. End of Quarter 5-6

Q4
Mellor win face and break but great work from Jack and Mark force him out of play, Timperley ball. Crosscheck sees Timperley man down but win the ball back and Ben L breaks upfield feeds Owen goal. Mellor keeper feels the ball wasn't in but ref gives it. Timperley man up. Timeout Blue. Jim finds Owen onto Cai who picks out Jack who fires home. Jim wins face and passes to Owen, back to Jim onto Jack, then to Cai who beats 2 men and scores. Jim again wins face and Sam picks up the ball. Timperley move the ball well and Owen Cuts round finds Cai who steps in front of keeper and slots home. Jim wins face passes to Cai and wins flag. Ball down Timperley man up. Owen has the ball in the corner. Sam and Jim passing back and forth before Sam shoots but saved. Ben E picks up loose ball and Timperley start again. Owen thunders one in off the post and out back for Timperley ball. Owen drives round from behind goal and feeds Ben E goal. Mellor win the ball from the face and break. Final attack sees Mellor score. Final score 6-11

A great all round team performance today with all players stepping up to the challenge. Special mention to George Rommel making his U14 debut. A tough one to start with. Also Ben L who was again exceptional all over the park.
This weeks Man of the Match is Jack Dearden with a great all round performance.
