U14 Boy's v Stockport

This week the boys faced their toughest challenge of the cup, with game against Stockport.

Q1
Jim wins face and Timperley enjoy lots of early possession but can’t break through the strong Stockport defence. The ball is moved quicker and Cai gets a chance but stopped in his tracks. Timperley man down for a slash. Stockport get hold of the ball and break upfield and shift it well goal. Back to full strength both teams struggling to break down the opposing defence. Timeout Stockport. 3 mins in the quarter and Stockport on the attack but a great slide from Leon keeps Them at bay. Timperley gain possession and break up the pitch. Great work from Ben Edwards who scores to level up the game. 1-1

Q2
Stockport win face and break quickly defence forces them to move it around. Goal Stockport. Stockport again win face and break, shot thunders off the bar collected by Ben L who gets it behind finds Mark H who runs length of the field but Stockport intercept the pass and come again. Great defence makes it hard for Stockport but a slash from Ben L sees Timperley a man down. Timeout Stockport. Stockport lose possession and Timperley go on the attack. George holds ball up and draws the man and moves it out. Shot Owen saved by keeper. Stockport break and beat the defence goal. Stockport come again with seconds left in quarter but great save by Tom and a little run. End of half 1-3.

Q3
Stockport enjoy early possession but great defence by Alex B sees Alex Moulden move ball upfield comes to cai goal. 2-3. The pace of the game is a little frantic. Daniel, Hamza and Mark up and down the field. Stockport player suffers a stick break. Timperley enjoy some good possession leading to a shot from Cai which is saved but collected by Ben E who finds Owen who fires home. Stockport win resulting face and move ball upfield before finding a gap in Timperley defence and scoring to go back in front. End to end stuff from both teams in the final few minutes of the quarter. Timeout Stockport. 60 seconds in the quarter, Stockport’s number 21 tries to drive but is seen off by Alex M and goes again but can’t find away past Alex. End of quarter 3-4.

Q4

Stockport win the face but pressure from Noah sees Stockport hand over possession. Timperley break and a fake from Owen sends his man and then he shoots and scores. 4-4 game on. Stockport agin won face and push Timperley back but struggle to get through the defence. Great defending Alex M and Leon. Stockport offside so man down for thirty seconds. Ball goes out of play for a Timperley ball. It’s moved upfield quick and comes to Sam who drives past his man and puts Timperley in front for the first time in the game. Timeout Stockport. Game goes into the last three minutes and Stockport fire over the bar. Then Tom with a great save. Face off in the Timperley defence sees Stockport win the ball with thirty seconds to go. Tom saves and runs out of goal to the halfway and releases the pass. Get back Tom. Times up Timperley win 5-4 in a close tense match.

A game of two defences sees Timperley just pip Stockport to the win.

A good all round performance today But special mention to all of the defensive team. A special mention for Ben Edwards who had a great game in attack.
