Tight win over Brooklands

It was a pleasant morning that met Timperley as they made the short trip to Brooklands for the first game of the season. The lads were all excited with the anticipation of a new season and we're keen to put on a good showing. They started the match well and we're well on top when Harry opened the scoring with a well finished effort. Timperley then got a second with a fantastic team goal, Aled finishing off a move that involved 4 different players. Brooklands were still in the game and got a goal back before Harry got his second following a great assist from Hector. Brooklands kept it tight by getting a second before the end of the quarter
1st Quarter 2-3
The second quarter continued in the tight manner. Hector grabbing a goal, burying a loose ball. Brooklands then got 2 goals to tie the match at 4-4 before Harry completed his hat-trick with a clever flick of the rebound from a good save from the Brooklands keeper, he then got a 4th with strong play even after the referee had dropped a flag for a slash.
HT 4-6
Timperley really turned it on in the 3rd quarter, Harry scoring after picking up a loose ball before Mikey got in on the act, finishing after an assist from Harry. Brooklands kept in touch, scoring a couple more before a solo goal from Harry and another strong finish from Hector, Brooklands scored again before another solo effort from Harry left Timperley with a good lead going into the last quarter.
3rd Quarter 7-11
With nothing to lose Brooklands came out fighting in the 4th Quarter and really took control of the game. Timperley defended with the all they could muster, the midfield and defence putting in great effort and Henry Dean solid in goal but all the pressure told and Brooklands tied the game up with 4 unanswered goals. Timperley tried to reassert themselves and managed to calm things down and started to keep possession eventually creating a chance that Harry converted, giving the team a very tight but well deserved victory.
FT 11-12
It was a really good team performance and there were good individual displays across the pitch, from Goalkeeper, the defence, the tireless midfield who covered the pitch and the attack. Special mention to Harry with his 7(seven) goals but Man of the Match goes to Charlie Marshall who put in a really dominant showing in midfield, winning ground balls, carrying well and involving his team mates when he could.
