On a wet grey day in Liverpool, Timperley made their way over to Liverpool’s home ground to play their second match of the season against the team. Timperley started off very strong winning the majority of draws, this led to some very quick goals from the centre by Lucy, Sarah and Masie. There were a couple of 3-second fouls in the fan but the teams listened to the referee’s and stopped making the same mistake. Timperleys attack carried the majority of possession throughout this quarter, with Liverpool only scoring one goal. This left the score 4-1 after the first quarter.

Timperley continued with the same vigour in the second quarter, starting off well by winning the majority of the draws again, with strong concentration from the centre and centre circle players. Attack made some challenging passes which meant that Liverpool’s stronger players took possession. However, Timperleys defence did not allow Liverpool’s attack to have many shots on goal scoring only 1 in this quarter. Attack created many opportunities for themselves which resulted in a further 4 goals being scored by Timperley, coming from the same players. This left the score 8-2 at half time.

Liverpool came out fighting in the second quarter scoring 3 goals in a short space of time, after Timperleys attack gave the ball away in mid-field. However, Timperley remained determined to take more shots on goal and players worked hard to get the ball back from some tricky ground balls. Defence worked well to stop cutters and doubled the ball on stronger players to slow them down in the midfield which led to turnovers. This resulted in a further 4 goals scored by Kat and Lucy (3). The score after the third quarter was 12-5.

By the final quarter the pitch was very muddy which caused a few slips and trips, however this did not affect the resilience from either team, who played solidly until the end. With the goal difference in mind, defence began to noticeably tire and as such, Liverpool worked hard to get the ball back and created more opportunities on goal. Their persistence led to four goals being scored in the final quarter - their highest scoring quarter of the game. Timperley utilised substitutes throughout to maintain the energy on the pitch, which was highly utilised in the last 10 minutes of the game. Once again Timperley managed 4 goals which led them to finish on a strong 16 at the end of the game. Liverpool finished with 9 which shows a triple in their score against Timperley since the last game. The team were also very appreciative of the chicken curry and chips for match teas!
