1st game after the Christmas break

First game after the Christmas break, can always be a tricky fixture. Especially against the strong Mellor side we had to be very careful. We had to build on the last game of 2022 and continue this.

In total we had 14 players which meant we had for sops which gave us some flexibility.

We always have a good chat about what we need to do in the game before we start and often forget about this in the first couple of minutes of the game. We allowed Mellor too much space and they were 2 - 0 up even though we were controlling the game till then. Then we remembered what we had said and very quickly caught up and went 4-2 up at the end of quarter one.

At the first quarter break, we spoke about how we had to improve our shooting and continue with what we were doing towards the end in defence, being tight on the Mellor players. We executed this perfectly in this quarter. Quarter 2 score was 6-2 for us, which meant we were leading 10-4 at the end of first half.

Quarter 3, we continued the good work from Quarter 2. Good movement in attack and quick passing and tight defence meant we build up another comfortable lead. Quarter 3 score was 6-2, leading 16-6 by end of Quarter 3.

Quarter 4, we took our eye a bit off the pedal and lost 2-3 but still had some decent chances to at least draw or win this quarter too. End score 18 - 9 for TLC Ladies.

Georgia ingot made some great saves. Defence worked well as a unit but more we train together better we will get. Midfield and attack combined well and when we passed quickly we were a beauty to watch. Man of the match Emma 1 (Saunders).
