Timperley U11 hold their own against Norbury U13/U11

We don't always write match reports for friendly games, but today's performance deserves to get a mention!

Norbury fielded 2 xU13's (with prior agreement from me), and it gave us a real test.
(it would have been nice if they had perhaps conditioned it with a rule that an U11 must score for a goal to count. But some clubs don't see things the way we do! Norbury instead mostly sent their U13 players straight through the middle to score goals.)
Nevertheless, it was a test for us, and we rose to the challenge. We learn a lot from games like this.

Timperley gave a magnificent performance of team play. I was super impressed by the fight, and determination to win the ball, and the intelligence of the girls to time their passes to their team mates.
These are the foundations that will be built on in years to come.

The skills that the girls have learned in Saturday morning training were on display today - at times our defence were immense! - and against older girls too! Our transition was quick and the ball was passed around with clever passing and accomplished catching.

It was great to see the subs on the sidelines cheering on their teammates.
Thanks to all parents for your support - it's really important to the girls to have that.

The score is not something that we should focus on in a friendly like todays game. That is for competitive games to come.
Today was about growing as a team and we certainly did that.
Every single player today should be very proud of how they played.
Well done girls! - it's hugely encouraging to see you play like that!

Instructions

We have now managed to move it a little earlier - please note - 10.40am meet - game starting shortly after 11am.
It's at Norbury.
Directions provided by Norbury as follows:

Norbury field doesn't have a postcode which isn't very helpful.
Use postcode SK7 5PE, this takes you to Independent Options on Chester Rd. Opposite here is a track next to a field. We are at the top of the track.

It's an unmade road so quite bumpy- if anyone doesn't want to take their car up it, they can park on Stokesay drive SK7 5PP. At the end of this road is an entrance on to the field where we are.

Its sounds complicated but it isn't really.

Game will be on grass.
Please bring gumshield and studs.
Gumshield is essential to play and must not be white or clear.
Please also bring £2 subs for the ref.
Please remember - no jewellery to be worn!

I will have shirts and spare goggles.
I'll also have a few spare sticks.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Thanks, Brett
