We don't always write match reports for friendly games, but today's performance deserves to get a mention!
Norbury fielded 2 xU13's (with prior agreement from me), and it gave us a real test.
(it would have been nice if they had perhaps conditioned it with a rule that an U11 must score for a goal to count. But some clubs don't see things the way we do! Norbury instead mostly sent their U13 players straight through the middle to score goals.)
Nevertheless, it was a test for us, and we rose to the challenge. We learn a lot from games like this.
Timperley gave a magnificent performance of team play. I was super impressed by the fight, and determination to win the ball, and the intelligence of the girls to time their passes to their team mates.
These are the foundations that will be built on in years to come.
The skills that the girls have learned in Saturday morning training were on display today - at times our defence were immense! - and against older girls too! Our transition was quick and the ball was passed around with clever passing and accomplished catching.
It was great to see the subs on the sidelines cheering on their teammates.
Thanks to all parents for your support - it's really important to the girls to have that.
The score is not something that we should focus on in a friendly like todays game. That is for competitive games to come.
Today was about growing as a team and we certainly did that.
Every single player today should be very proud of how they played.
Well done girls! - it's hugely encouraging to see you play like that!
