Mersey Wacs 0-23 Timperley

The first round of the Junior & Schools Cup saw Timperley up against a combined Mersey Wacs team.

The quarterly scores tell the tale of the match. We got a constant stream of possession from the face off (Danny, TJ, Matt) and this enabled us to keep a tight grip of the game. We played hard for three quarters before relaxing in the fourth.
The ball moved well and the number of assisted goals was very encouraging, whilst at the back Mersey didn’t manage a shot on target all morning. It was good to see that the boys backing each other up all over the pitch, riding well and fighting for the ground ball in twos and threes. It was only in the last quarter when the boys all had a switch of position that the scoring ceased – after they went scoreless the defence might show the attack a bit more respect in the future!

Well done to the 12 that played today. I am glad we got the game played in spite of all the bad weather that has been around of late. It was a very good win, one which gives us a second round fixture against Mellor, which will be played on Jan 26th.
