Timperley U16A – V – Poynton A U16

A much needed challenge for the boys this weekend with a close fought match against Poynton A team, resulting in a narrow victory for Timperley.
There were times during the game when we looked in control and managed to pull a few goals ahead but Poynton fought hard and managed to capitalise on their opportunities around goal a lot more than we did.
At times our defence did not communicate enough therefore giving away some easy goals due to some silly mistakes when we lost focus. This was interspersed with intervals of good defence and also some great saves by Fraser, once again.
On the attack we had periods of good ball movement, cuts, dodges and shots where most of the team had moments of success. However we also had spells here and there where we tried to force the ball by going for goal and not lifting our heads up to look for the pass (an assist is every bit as important as scoring a goal). We also need to spin the ball more often to give midfield a break, other than that the boys did well.
Overall, well done boys. This match was a valuable experience for us all as a team and highlighted some areas to work on.
