Timperley U13 Girls - 10
Cheadle U13 Girls - 10
A great morning from our improving U13 Girls team. The result was a thrilling draw!
I was unable to attend due to illness, so my thanks to Cengiz for helping getting everything organized and for reffing, and to Robin and Sarah for their help in managing the game. Thanks also to my daughter, Charlotte, for her help today.
The one thing I love about our U13 Girls team is the depth of quality parental support we have. It's good to know that the team are in very safe hands on the rare occasion I can't be there.
Cheadle always present a tough challenge.
A heavy pitch made it very tiring and we initially struggled defensively to pick up in the first quarter (2-5).
The second quarter was much closer (2-3) with some really good passing and teamwork on ground balls.
Half time 4-8.
The second half saw a much improved Timperley team set their sights on the Cheadle lead. To never believe that you are beaten is a very useful quality, and the U13 girls have it in abundance.
They began to control the game, and were often in command, especially in the final quarter.
Controlled possession around the goal, keeping the ball off the floor. Running all over the field to stop Cheadle getting out.
There was much improved defence and awareness throughout the team. Timperley kept swapping midfield and attack to try and protect our legs but everyone was shattered by the end.
The fact that the 10 goals were scored by so many different players is an encouraging statistic.
Everyone played right up to their potential, and everyone should be very proud of their performance, both individually and as a team.
But the highlight of today was the quality of passing and catching, the team effort on ground balls and the whole team defending.
Well done girls! This was a great performance.
