Brooklands U15 Girls - 18 Timperley U15 Girls - 12

I want to begin this report by stating that every single Timperley player gave a fantastic account of themselves today.
They showed commitment, character and determination.
I take full responsibility for the result, as I underestimated what turned out to be a very good Brooklands side.

Our squad of 16 players was cut to 12 the night before the game. I took the decision to play, as 12 would be enough and we still looked strong.
Unfortunately the morning of the game saw 2 further casualties, and we arrived at Brooklands with 10 players only.
With a full squad available this would have been a very different encounter.

But we played with 10, and what a great game it was.
Brooklands were quick and direct. That took Timperley by surprise and we were soon a few goals behind. The gap that was established at the very beginning didn't ever feel like it was getting away from us. We were always in touch, competing hard, to the point that in the 4th quarter we still felt we could win the game.
That is the spirit that lives in these girls, in this team.
The tiredness that crept in today made the biggest difference however, and we were unable to turn our 3rd quarter period of dominance into the goals that it deserved.

Brooklands had a solid defence, strong attackers and a great goalie. Credit where credit is due - they played some great lacrosse.

But Timperley had the same. A great keeper in Katie Tighe, a hard working defence in Emily Porter, Charlotte Sadler, and Layli Brookshaw, a tireless midfield in Alyssa Mehta, Franzi Christian and Carys Bucknall, with strong attackers in Chloe Lowndes, Kit Towers and Esme Torevell.
At this level of lacrosse, we simply took on too much with 10.
That was a lesson for me, but I want to thank every one of you today that gave it everything you had, despite (I know) some of you not feeling 100%.
Today we learned a lot. Despite the loss, the morale was high and nobody should feel bad about today.
We always say that when we lose, we learn. We certainly did some learning today.

We look forward to the New Year. I wish you all and your families a very Merry Christmas.
Stay safe and keep well.
Best wishes,
Brett
